Nature in Frenzied Colours: Rahul Pratti
If a traveller is also a hoarder of all things nice, is there a better way to accumulate priceless moments than carrying a camera around?
Toehold Patron Rahul Pratti, a fervent explorer of nature and wildlife, has known this simple truth from the days of film cameras.
He fondly recollects how he never went anywhere without a camera, when the devices had still not gone digital. It didn’t matter if he owned one or not; even a borrowed camera would be hanging from his neck if he set out to wander in the wilds.
Rahul’s love affair with photography got more serious from 2008, when he started getting lured into the world of DSLRs. This was when he was also looking for guided photo tours, and in a belated moment of inspiration, became acquainted with Toehold.
Although nature and wildlife photography has been his forte, with the numerous Photo Tours on which he has been with Toehold, birding has been his new passion in the recent past. But Rahul also owns different camera equipment that allows him to make some spectacular landscape images based on which place he wants to explore in different seasons.
Toehold Skippers awaken the natural exploring instincts of the Tour participants that might need a gentle nudge.
“When Toehold Skippers are around, there is passion in the air. It is contagious and awakens the natural exploring instincts of the Tour participants that might need a gentle nudge,” says Rahul.
He adds that he prefers going on Toehold Photo Tours to travelling on his own, because he likes how the Tours are scrupulously managed. And of all the Toehold Photo Tours that he has been on, Rahul admits that Corbett is an easy favourite.
“Corbett is a photographer’s paradise. Your hungry camera can feast on a wholesome meal, as the place promises sightings of both birds and mammals. There is also an abundant opportunity for landscape photography as well. All Photo Tours have enriched my experiences, but I can pick Corbett as a favourite effortlessly. Also, if it weren’t for the Toehold’s Tour to Africa, I don’t know when my desire to visit the continent would have materialised,” he remarks.
Photography constantly brings new possibilities of exploring the world to the forefront.
Rahul says how the quality of his photography has evolved over the years, ever since he started going on guided Photo Tours. “Photography is one of the best hobbies a person can have, as it constantly brings new possibilities of exploring the world to the forefront, the final result of which is absolutely priceless,” he concludes.
